In fact it's easy to get started in Aikido all you need to do is turn up at one of our classes. We train people from white belt all the way throught to where you may like to go in Aikido.
Aikido is a Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba. The techniques are completed with various throws or joint locks. Aikido can be categorized under the general umbrella of grappling arts.
Aikido techniques involve grabbing the wrists, arms, and shoulders, as well as some kneeling and rolling on the mat. Loose fitting, durable shirt & sweat pants, or white (bleached or un-bleached) judo/karate dogi are recommended. Shorts are not recommended as we perform many exercises on our knees.
Yes you can train Aikido. Unlike some martial arts styles that are very physical, Aikido uses the energy of the other person to control the situation and therefore requires less energy to do. Also it is commonly known fact that O"Sensei was still training in his 80's.
Yes of couse you can bring a friend in fact bring two. One of the best way to get passed feel shy about coming to training is to bring a friend along. you never know your friend might like traing as much as you do.
